The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in the year 1993 with an intake of 40 students, which has been increased to 60 students in the academic year 1994 – 1995. The objective of the department is to impart knowledge and to inculcate analytical and technical skills in students.
The Department has well-established laboratories with latest and sophisticated equipments in all the laboratories. In machine shop, we have many lathes and special purpose machines. In the CAD lab, the latest software in modeling, IDEAS and PRO-E and analysis packages such as ANSYS are available. CAM lab has CNC turner, CNC milling, and CMM and FMC facilities.
The Department has well qualified Faculty members. All the Faculty members are PG holders and many of them are from reputed Institutes like IIT, IISC, Anna University and PSG.
With both eminent Faculty members and well-equipped laboratories, our students are doing well in their academics and they have secured many University ranks.
The Department has signed MOU with MARS CNC Technik Pvt Ltd, CIFNET, Khivraj Motors Ltd, and Delphi-TVS
Apart from academics, students are also participating in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. They are participating in National Level Technical Symposiums conducted by various colleges in India and they are also taking part in sports, athletic meets, quiz competitions, etc.
