Sriram Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is the latest educational venture by Sriram Educational Trust. The trust has to its credit Sriram Polytechnic, Sriram Engineering College, Sriram Inst. Of Management and Sriram Vidya Mandir Matriculation Hr. Sec. School.
The hotel and training industry is a global industry, it consists of hundreds & thousands of hotels owned by multinational chains, independent operators, large companies and financial institution.
It is estimated that Hotel industry generated approx. 300 billion US dollars in 2000. It accounts for 11% of the world’s economic output.
Asia continues to be one of the fastest growing Tourism destination of the world.
The highly competitive international business of travel & tourism has given a definite boost to the hospitality industry. There is a great lack of highly trained hospitality personnel.

Among the vast array of career opportunities that students to day can choose from hotel management is undoubtedly one of the most popular. Besides, the obvious attractions of an excellent word ambience, there is growing awareness of the superior career potential of this industry.
With Travel & Tourism on the rise the hospitality industry is currently experiencing a boom. India as a tourism destination is come of age. And domestic tourism too is having a boost thanks to growing salaries and disposable incomes. All this has resulted in opening up of excellent career opportunities for aspiring young men & women in the hospitality industry.

With hotel chains like the Oberios, the Taj group and the welcome group of hotels the Indian standards of hospitality and hotel management are fast approaching world standards, thus indicating that Indian hotel management staff are of international standards too.
And SRIHM&CT plans to train international standard staff to meet the requirement. SRIHM&CT presently offers a 3 years Diploma in HM&CT affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education & 3 Year Degree in HCM affiliated by University of Madras.
On successful completion of the course the student will be awarded a diploma in hotel management or a B.Sc. degree in HCM awarded by the University of Madras.
The University of Madras has granted approval to our Institute to start
M.Sc.HCM from the academic year 2003 – 2004. This is a two year Post Graduate programme to those who a qualified with B.Sc.HCM.
Sriram Inst. Of Hotel Management & Catering Technology is also planning to start short term Craft courses in Food Production, F&B Service, Front Office Reception & Housing keeping from 2004.
The institute is located at Veppampattu and it is soon slated to be relocated in a strategically prime place in the heart of Chennai city at Mount Road.
FEES
The fees for all the courses are very reasonable & affordable. Donations & Capitation fees are not collected.

We at SRIHM&CT think the faculty is the important part of the higher education. It is blood of the system. We have selected & employed the best staff to cover all the areas in hotel management education.

COMMAND FACULTY
The head of the Institution is Mr. A.M. ANAND KUMAR, who has over 20 years of operational experience in hotels like the Oberou & Holiday Inn. He has also served as Principal of some leading hotels and Management institutions in India. Other faculties include, 1. Ms.K. SHANMUGA PRIYA, 2. Y.K. KRISHNAKUMAR and 3. H. SATHIYA NARAYANAN.
Hospitality education unlike other courses has to be made practical and hands on experience is a must. Our course includes large components of Practical training, giving students greater confidence through real life learning.
The institute has gone even further & engaged industry experts to prepare on the job training modules in key areas.
Education is imported through participation & interaction of the students with the Lecture. Complementing this are the use of case studies, reports, seminars & conference to impart knowledge. Audio visual aids will be extensively used to ass to the interest level of the students.
INDUSTRIAL EXPOSURE TRAINING
The students are sent on a 4-6 months industrial training to some of the leading hotels. The well planned & interesting work experience during the training is essential for a well groomed hotel professional.
ALL ROUND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
Sriram Inst. Of Hotel Management and Catering Technology stresses all round development through extra curricular activities personality development workshops & participation in industry related events.
Workshops & training sessions by eminent consultants & personality development experts will be arranged to ensure balanced development of the students. Students will be encouraged to attend industry meets and events to acquire a broader perspective.

THE
LIBRARY
We have a well equipped library with the best of books available on the subject. The students call borrow books to enhance their knowledge.
HOSTEL FACILITIES.
The students can avail world class hotel facility available at the campus. Every effort is made to see that the students stay comfortably. The students staying in the hostel will be provided with Veg. & Non – Veg. Meals.
MIDDAY MEALS
All students both Dayscholar & hostellers will be provided with midday meals. The students are also required to part take the food they prepare during their food production practicals.
PLACEMENT CELL
A separate placement cell is available to ensure training & final placement. The cell is headed by the Principal of the institute. We have made special arrangement with a few hotels to give priority in selecting students from SRIHM&CT.
PARENTS – INSTITUTE INTERACTION
The institute fully understands & appreciates parents concern regarding their wards activities & growth. Arrangements have to be made to help parents keep in touch with their children & monitor their progress.

The institutes has facilitates to trained the students in Basic Food production, Quality Food Production & Advanced Food Production. It also has a guest room & a well set restaurant with bar. The institute has a Computer lab.
